Automotive Service Excellence (ASE)

February 28, 2011

Professional Certification At the family owned and operated gas and service station Linnett’s Gulf, only highly trained master technicians work beneath the hoods of vehicles, ensuring repairs are completed quickly and accurately no matter what the job. Located in west Philadelphia, Linnett’s Gulf maintains more than 15 years serving the local community with high caliber vehicle servicing and a dedication to customer attention and fair pricing.

An American Automobile Association (AAA) approved center, Linnett’s Gulf employs Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified mechanics possessing upwards of 20 years of experience. Administered by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, the ASE designation identifies vehicle technicians with at least two years of hands-on experience and comprehensive training in any number of sectors, such as collision repair, medium to heavy truck maintenance, automobile and light truck service, and other fields. Currently almost 400,000 professionals hold valid ASE certifications, which they must retest for every 5 years. ASE members operate in a variety of different segments of the vehicle industry, including at dealerships, private garages, franchise service stations, and fleet companies. Each ASE affiliate carries paperwork confirming its area of expertise. Established in 1972, the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence filled a much-needed role in confirming competent mechanics, providing greater consumer protection.

Today, ASE operates as a premier identifier of quality technicians and garages. Working closely with ACT (formally the American College Testing organization), the Institute administers examinations to new and recertifying candidates four times a year at hundreds of sites throughout the country. To pass the exams, repair professionals must undertake hours of studying and training. Taking a vehicle to an ASE-certified mechanic can eliminate the hassles associated with dealing with an unqualified or dishonest individual. ASE members exhibit an advanced background in vehicle repair, and many times they come highly recommended because of the quality of their work. Read up on the ASE program at ase.com.
